We work at the intersection of technology, education, and opportunity. Building programs that equip young people and women in rural communities with the skills, tools, and networks they need to thrive in the digital economy.
Our approach is simple but powerful:
Project-based learning that leads to real world outcomes. Whether it's coding a robot to solve local challenges or pitching an AI-powered business, our learners don't just imagine the future, they help build it.
We've impacted 15k+ rural learners
Social Coding works to empower young people in Rural South Africa with the digital skills, tools and networks they need to access meaningful, dignified and future fit opportunities.
As a project-based learning organization, we design immersive programs where youth learn by doing, solving real world problems, building tangible solutions, and applying digital skills in ways that are both practical and transformational.
Empowering youth through digital skills development.
What began as a safe space for young rural girls and boys to learn innovation has evolved into a large-scale initiative that addresses the systemic issue of digital inequality affecting millions of rural youth. As the founder of Social Coding, Thembiso Magajana was inspired by the need to empower young people to become innovation leaders. This mission has since expanded to include boys and girls from all walks of life, transforming the digital landscape of rural communities across South Africa.
